for Children

Your child may benefit from speech therapy if they demonstrate any of the following: 

  • says fewer than 20 words at 18 months 

  • difficulty using eye contact or gestures to communicate

  • talks infrequently due to chronic ear infections

  • uses only a few sounds in all words

  • unclear or immature-sounding speech

  • difficulty following directions

  • coughs, chokes, or gags on food

  • difficulty breast- or bottle-feeding, or transitioning to solids

  • difficulty using language socially

  • difficulty identifying letter sounds, or difficulty with reading, writing, or spelling
